OUR TEAM

Stafford DeMercado joined the business in 1962 when his father got ill. It was the only means that the family had of support. The crazy thing was, he had no knowledge of printing whatsoever.

By 1965 the business had run out of space and thus bought 2 lots of land on the old Jewish burial ground on church street and erected a building on one lot. In 1968 they took occupancy of the building. Within a few months he introduced the IBM composing typewriter which at that time was state of the art and this enabled them to move from the manual composing to paste-ups. A year later he bought a single colour offset press so that he could print 4colour work, one colour at a time.

In 1978 Mr. Demercado returned to the office from lunch only to find out that there was a fire in his absence, now remember there were no cell phones back then. So he had to clean up and salvage what he could because the business had to continue. Well like the PHOENIX Mr. Demercado rose from the ashes and in 1985 moved to our current location on East Street which was formerly the Times Printery.
